Who Can Get a GPLD Library Card?

Residents

Residents of Geneva Public Library District are entitled to a library card. Whether you fill out the online application or apply for one at the Library you will need to provide a photo ID and one piece of identification that verifies your identity and residence. To see what Library District you are a part of, search your address here.

The following documents containing your name and address will be accepted as verification:

  • Driver's license (if address is current, this is all you need)
  • Current utility bill
  • Current property bill
  • Printed check or current bank statement
  • Real estate papers or lease

A parent or legal guardian must sign the application for an applicant under 18 and must be present to verify residency within the Library District.

Property Owners

Persons who own property but do not reside within the Library District may apply for a card with photo ID and a current property tax bill. All property owners must sign application. Applications are available at the Customer Service Desk.

Geneva Business Owners

Geneva business owners who lease a commercial property may apply for a Geneva Public Library District card by bringing in a photo ID and one of the following to the Customer Service Desk:

  • Current business lease
  • Current business utility bill
  • Business checkbook

The card is good for one year from the date of issue.

Non-Residents

Non-residents of the Library District who reside within the Geneva School District may obtain a card for a determined fee.
