Learn more about Canine Companions from Suzanne Treudt, a long-time volunteer and service dog trainer. Also come meet Jordy, the "puppy-in-training"!
Canine Companions is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained service dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. They provide service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities and facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice and educational settings. Since their founding in 1975, Canine Companion dogs and all follow-up services are provided at no cost to recipients.
Our presenter, Suzanne Treudt, along with her husband Steve Treudt, have been volunteer puppy raisers for Canine Companions since 1997 when their daughter was 6 years old. They are currently raising Jordy, their 21st service dog puppy for Canine Companions. Suzanne was an immediate past President of the Canine Companions Greater Chicagoland Chapter and has served in many leadership roles within the chapter. She also serves as mentor for first time Canine Companions puppy raisers. Suzanne will be joined by Rochelle and her service dog Derma for a demonstration on how service dogs help persons with disabilities live with greater independence.
Suzanne and Steve are lifelong residents of West Chicago.
