In 1941, a small group of misfit Italian soldiers is sent to a tiny Greek island in the Aegean Sea for four months of lookout duty. Their relief ship is torpedoed and their radio destroyed. As they lose all touch with the world outside, they are absorbed into the life of the idyllic island. Directed by Gabriele Salvatores and awarded the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1992.
