Night Writers Workshop (Adults)
REGISTRATION RECOMMENDED
Tuesday, February 09
6:00pm - 8:30pm
Geneva Public Library District
Meeting RoomFacilitated by author and teacher Rick Holinger. This workshop welcomes writers of all abilities and genres. Topic: What makes novels compelling
Topic: What makes readers care about a character and want to keep turning the pages? Join Night Writers to discuss which storytelling techniques are most crucial to writing a compelling, popular novel. Explore character weaknesses, powerful desires, personal stakes, worldbuilding, understandable antagonists, distinctive dialogue, and unexpected developments that still feel inevitable. Consider examples of novels that use some or all of these techniques and discuss what makes them work.
The Night Writers Workshop discusses various topics within writing and provides a welcoming environment for peer feedback. The program is organized into two sections: critique of submitted manuscripts and discussion of writing topics. For more information on submitting a manuscript, please visit Night Writer Guidelines.
