Night Writers Workshop (Adults)

REGISTRATION RECOMMENDED

Facilitated by author and teacher Rick Holinger, this workshop welcomes writers of all abilities and genres. Topic: Are you in your narrator?

Discussion topic this month: How much of you is in your narrator? In a recent poetry group, a member forbade anyone from even thinking that the narrator of a poem could be the poet herself (even though Whitman, in Song of Myself, identifies his age when starting the poem), suggesting the speaker must be a persona. How much of you is in your narrator, first, second, or third person? Do you try to distance yourself from your narrator, or engage your feelings and even your lifestyle and/or that which most personally affects you? When do you make your choice in the creative process, and have you ever switched midstream?

The Night Writers Workshop discusses various topics within writing and provides a welcoming environment for peer feedback.
