America 250: Baron Von Steuben - The Hero of Valley Forge (Adults)

In this historical dramatization, Terry Lynch portrays Baron von Steuben, who played a leading role in the American Revolutionary War.

Prussian-born Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand Freiherr von Steuben arrived at Valley Forge in February 1778 and was warmly received by George Washington. Von Steuben established a strong bond between officers and enlisted soldiers, and his teachings and strategies, found in the "Blue Book," serve as the standard for military practices, covering various aspects from administration and court-martial to sanitation and hygiene. His contributions marked a significant improvement in the performance of U.S. troops, and he is consequently regarded as one of the fathers of the United States Army. This program is held in honor of German-American Heritage Month and America 250, the United States Semiquincentennial, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.

Terry Lynch has been a professional actor performing on stage, T.V., film, and radio in the Chicagoland area for more than 40 years.  He has also appeared regularly on the WGN Morning Show. He and his wife Laura, a certified educator, began Histories for Kids / HFK Presents more than 20 years ago as a way to bring history to life for all ages.
