Paris on the Prairie: French Influences on Chicago Architecture (Adults)

Architectural historian Laurie Petersen will share examples of architecture in Chicago influenced by French styles.

What do Buckingham Fountain, the Michigan Avenue Bridge, and the Tribune Tower have in common? They are all inspired by structures in France! Architectural historian Laurie Petersen will show us examples of Gallic influence all over "Paris on the Prairie," ranging from mansard-roofed houses to Art Deco skyscrapers. In this richly illustrated lecture, take a virtual stroll on "Boul Mich" and beyond, to see our city à la française.
