Meeting RoomNow called the Fox Run neighborhood in Geneva, it was once the Illinois State Training School for Girls. Join us for a presentation of its history!
Geneva History Museum Educator, Heidi Howlett, will present a brief history of the Illinois State Training School for Girls that was once located in Geneva from 1894 to 1976. The school was designed to reform young girls deemed delinquent or socially unacceptable. Many of these girls were orphaned or homeless, and the institution aimed to provide education and rehabilitation. Today, the legacy of the Illinois State Training School for Girls is marked by a small cemetery in Geneva, where many of the girls who died during their incarceration are buried.
