This month's selection is The Matchmaker (Israel). This lovely, sweet, Israeli coming-of-age film set in 1968 Haifa, is beautifully written, acted, and photographed. A teenage boy starts working for a Holocaust survivor who acts as a matchmaker, and both of their lives change forever. Actors Adir Miller and Maya Dagan won best actor and best actress awards from the Israeli Film Academy. Released in 2010. Running time 1hr 52min. NR.
