    • We've extended all due dates and waived all fines for the duration of our closure. Please do not return Library books and materials until further notice.

    • We've eliminated all holds for the time being.

    • We are transitioning to the new library, and construction details are wrapping up on landscaping, interior finishes, furniture installation, and more.

    • Due to the governor's Stay at Home order, this remains a fast-changing situation.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.

    • Please continue to check our website, gpld.org, for ongoing updates.

    • We are working to program our new lights, and we apologize for any inconvenience as we set up the system. Our new library uses LED lighting and light harvesting controls for greater efficiency.

    LATEST NEWS

The Library remains closed to the public until further notice following Gov. Pritzker's Stay at Home Order. We are now unpacking at the new library at 227 S. Seventh St., setting up books, computers, and much more. Construction of the playground at Sixth and Franklin streets has begun, and other construction activity continues. We will let you know when we have a new opening date.

Meanwhile we hope to launch drive-thru service for you next month, although this can change depending on information from local, state, and federal health authorities and other organizations.

Check back at gpld.org/announcements for the latest news about our upcoming move and closure.
