Sharon D. Epps portrays Harriet Tubman in honor of Juneteenth.
The dynamic poet, motivational speaker, and activist Sharon D. Epps will portray Harriet Tubman. She will take the audience on a journey from the South to the North, to freedom, as Moses, the 1st conductor of the Underground Railroad. This program is being presented in honor of Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
