Not too little, not too much -- this is the essence of Lagom. Learn how to incorporate this sensible life approach to create balance and contentment.
Keeping her Swedish roots alive is a priority for Jan Peterson Hincapie and was very important to her late parents, Bob and Asta (Bergman) Peterson. When planning a trip to Sweden for the first time this past summer, Jan became interested in Lagom, a life philosophy taught to Swedes early in life. This fell in line with over a decade of research regarding life balance, a concern for many individuals today. Lagom is rooted in harmony, moderation, and sustainability. She frequently heard the mantra in Sweden: “Not too much, Not too little, Just right!” While there, Jan interviewed individuals about what Lagom meant to them and observed it firsthand. Jan will talk about how we, as Americans, can incorporate Lagom into our lives to experience a happier, more productive existence while improving our relationships and finding greater joy in all we do.
