Call for Artists

In conjunction with our 2025 “One Book, One Community” event, Geneva Public Library will host Tell Your Story: A Community Art Exhibit. This show is a celebration of artists who live and work in our community and will be highlighted among the month-long calendar of “One Book, One Community” events. 

Please read the information below and fill out our online entry form to apply. Any questions about entry or the exhibit may be directed to Chaz Baechler, at cbaechler@gpld.org.  

Eligibility and Entry Costs
Open to all artists who are residents of Geneva, St. Charles, and Batavia, IL. Artists may submit up to three (3) pieces for consideration at no cost.
Exhibition Timeline

• Call for Artists Issued: December 3, 2024

•Deadline for Submissions: December 20, 2024

• Notification of Selected Artists: January 6, 2025

• Artwork Drop-Off: January 28 to 30, 2025 (time to be determined)

• Installation: January 30, 2025 (Artwork will be installed by Library staff)

• Artists' Reception: March 28, 2025, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• Show Closing: April 13, 2025

• Artwork Pick-Up: April 14 to 15, 2025


Selection Criteria

• Artwork in any medium will be considered. 

• 2D work must be wired and ready to hang, with no sawtooth hangers. 

• 2D pieces must not exceed 24” in either width or height.

• 3D pieces must not exceed 23” in width and 16” in height. 

• All artworks must be original in concept. 

• All artworks must be non-partisan and appropriate for an audience of all ages. 


Policies

• Artists are responsible for insuring their own artwork. 

• GPLD takes every precaution to protect all artwork; however, GPLD will not be responsible for artwork received in damaged condition or in the event of loss or damage to artwork submitted to this exhibit.

• Selected artists agree to allow images of their work to be used in marketing and publicity materials and/or on the GPLD website and social media.

• GPLD has final authority and reserves the right to make exceptions, and to change or cancel the show.
