A new session with more opportunities will be available in fall.

How do I become a VolunteeN?

Geneva Public Library patrons in grades 6-12 are eligible for our Volunteen program.  Registered Volunteens receive periodic e-mails letting them know about opportunities to volunteer to help us at programs or assist with behind-the-scenes tasks.  To sign up, complete the Volunteen Sign-up Form and either drop it off at a library service desk or e-mail it to

The 2022 Spring Volunteen session runs from January 17 to April 22. The last day to sign up is March 22.  You will be contacted about options for training.

The 2022 Summer Volunteen session runs from June 1 to August 12, and is open to students entering grade 6 through students who have just exited grade 12. Interested teens should fill out a Sign-up Form and sign up for one of our Training Sessions: Saturday, May 14, 2-3 p.m. or Thursday, May 19, 4:30-5:30 p.m. If you cannot make a training session, contact to make alternate arrangements.

What Do Library Volunteers Do?

Opportunities for Teens Entering Grades 6–12 (Volunteens)

What: Our Volunteen program is offered year-round, with several orientation dates offered before seasonal sessions. Volunteen duties vary depending on the Library’s needs. Some common tasks include: signing in patrons for the Summer Challenge (summer only); cleaning, sorting, and inventorying supplies; preparing materials for crafts; and locating books on the shelf for library staff projects.  Opportunities to assist at Library events will be available to those interested.  All Volunteen activities are eligible for GIVE hours.

When: You will work with a Library staff member to create a mutually agreeable schedule. Volunteens are asked to volunteer one hour per week throughout the session.
