Middle School

Hi, I’m Maureen!  I can partner with you to offer programs, study materials, research assistance, books, and more to support you and your classroom. Below are a few ways we can collaborate. Contact us at geneva.library@gpld.org or call us at 630-232-0780 if you have questions.

school visits

Librarians from Geneva Public Library are eager to visit your school. We offer services such as:

Booktalks

We will introduce your students to appealing books and offer them the opportunity to check out Geneva Public Library books in your classroom.

Research Help

We can instruct your students on the use of the Library’s resources and can assist with research and digital literacy.

Event Assistance

If you organize an event such as a writing workshop, author visit, Read Across America celebration, Poetry Month celebration, or any other literacy-based program, we can offer our services and assistance to you and your students.

Partnered Clubs and Activities

We partner with local educators to offer educational clubs and activities to students both at school and at the Library. Contact us if you have an idea for a program.

Library Visits

Classrooms can visit the Library for behind-the-scenes tours, research, and to check out materials.

If you have other ideas for ways we can assist you and your students, we’re happy to discuss them with you.

eresources

The Library offers online resources covering science, social studies, language arts, current events, general research, and more. Encyclopedias, test preparation, and language learning tools are also available. These are accessible to all users in the Library building, and from home to Library cardholders. To see a complete list of our resources, visit https://www.gpld.org/databases. Library staff can show you and your class how to access and use our resources.

assignment support

Let us know what you are assigning students and how you would like us to help. We can booktalk in the classroom, demonstrate online resources, and gather study materials to hold at the Library. Knowing your expectations of students for your big assignments will help our staff better assist them with research and selecting materials when they come to the Library seeking guidance.

teacher Resource Bags

The Library can put together a bag of resources for you to check out on a topic of your choice for teacher or student use. These can be picked up at the Library using your library card or checked out to you ahead of time and sent to your school through the courier service.

Teachers with a library card from a Library outside Geneva can still use our services with their card. Depending on which library you are a member of, you may need to stop by Geneva Public Library to register your card with us. Ask a staff member if you have any questions about how to use this service.

Some possible Resource Bag topics:

  • A collection of books on a topic you are studying
  • A collection of books of a certain genre or by a certain author
  • A collection of books to offer students for free reading during standardized testing
  • Books to support Common Core standards
  • Playaway audiobooks
  • Multiple copies of the same book for reading groups, book clubs, or other needs

Please give us as much lead time as possible. Requests may be made by phone, email, or the form on this page.
