get and use your Library Card

Your library card connects you to a world of resources and learning. Visit the Library to register for a card or start the process online. Contact us at geneva.library@gpld.org or call us at 630-232-0780 if you have questions.


Residents

Residents of Geneva Public Library District are entitled to a library card. Whether you fill out the online application or apply for one at the Library you will need to provide a photo ID and one piece of identification that verifies your identity and residence.

The following documents containing your name and address will be accepted as verification:

Driver's license (if address is current, this is all you need)
Current utility bill
Current property bill
Printed check or current bank statement
Real estate papers or lease


A parent or legal guardian must sign the application for an applicant under 18 and must be present to verify residency within the Library District.

Property Owners


Persons who own property but do not reside within the Library District may apply for a card with photo ID and a current property tax bill. All property owners must sign application. Applications are available at the Check In Desk.

Geneva Business Owners


Geneva business owners who lease a commercial property may apply for a Geneva Public Library District card by bringing in a photo ID and one of the following to the Check In Desk:

Current business lease
Current business utility bill
Business checkbook


The card is good for one year from the date of issue.

Non-Residents


Non-residents of the Library District who reside within the Geneva School District may obtain a card for a determined fee.

Renew or Replace Your Card

Residents
Bring your library card and a current photo ID and another form of identification that verifies your current address.

The following documents containing your name and address will be accepted as verification

Adult applicants must be present to receive or update library card. Applicants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their application.


Geneva Public Library cards are automatically renewed every three years for cardholders living within the Library district.
Residents who have turned 18 will need to register for a new library card.

Property Owners
Property owners may renew their library card with a photo ID and a current property tax bill.

Geneva Business Owners
Geneva business owners may renew their library card by bringing in a photo ID and one of the following to the Check In Desk:

Current business lease
Current business utility bill
Business checkbook
The card is good for one year from the date of issue.

Non-Residents
Non-residents of the Library District who reside within the Geneva School District may renew their card for a determined fee.

Lost Cards
Bring your photo ID and verification of current address for replacement.

Your PIN

If you have never logged in to your account, your PIN will be the last four digits of your phone number. If you have any difficulty logging in, please call us at 630-232-0780.

To Change Your PIN:

Click the "My Account" link on the top of this page
Type in your 14 digit barcode number (no spaces) and your PIN. Click "Login"
Click "Personal Information"
Type your current PIN
Choose and type a new PIN
Retype the new PIN to confirm and click "Change PIN"

Online Application - Mail My Library Card!

By submitting this form, I agree to comply with all policies and regulations of the Geneva Public Library District and agree to be responsible for the return of all items borrowed and for any fines or fees that may result from damage, loss, or late returns. In the event of the card(s) I have submitted for is lost or stolen, I understand that I am responsible for charges on it until I have instructed the library to suspend the library card's borrowing privileges.

Cards will be mailed from the Library.
