We are now unpacking at the new library at 227 S. Seventh St., setting up books, computers, and much more. Construction of the playground at Sixth and Franklin streets has begun, and other construction activity continues. We will let you know when we have an opening date.
Meanwhile we hope to launch drive-thru service for you next month, although this can change depending on information from local, state, and federal health authorities and other organizations. We also want to ensure we have systems, equipment, and supplies in place that minimize the risks to our community and staff. We are working on procedures to guide us through this process, and we’ll post updates as we have more information.
Our move to the new library does mean we need to make temporary changes to some of our services.
Current changes include:
- Please do not return Library books and materials until further notice – we’ve extended all due dates and waived all fines until the beginning of July.
- Our online resources - from eBooks, eMagazines, eAudiobooks, eMovies, and tools for research, school, and work - are available 24/7. You can also use your card at neighboring libraries.
We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience as we move to the new library.
Keep up with future announcements regarding our move, and more, at gpld.org.
